This article aims to provide an interpretation of two concepts from Walter Benjamin’s youth and maturity texts which allow for the establishment of a productive relation of analysis concerning both poems and historical periods: the concept of “poetized” [das Gedichtete], as it appears in the text about Friedrich Hölderlin in the first half of the 1910 decade; and the concept of “monad”, in accordance with its reformulation in the materialist phase, contemporary to the writing of the essay on Charles Baudelaire, in the end of the decade of 1930. My hypothesis is that it is possible to read a continuity between the two concepts through a third one, which was not described by Benjamin himself but could be deduced from his own work, and that we could name the “poetic unconscious”.
