Abstract

One of the most macroeconomic challenges of Brazil is export growth. Companies should enter in the international market to increase competitiveness, gain economic scale and reduce national domestic dependence. In the present study, data of 80 micro-, small- and medium-sized Brazilian exporting companies, which were segmented according to their export per, were collected by questionnaires, which were sent by e-mail. This study could identify four statistical significant determinants of export performance: experience in international markets, the existence of an export department, the utilization of export-financing programs, specially the Advances on Exchange-rate Contracts (ACC), and the quality of the product.
