Abstract

In this study, we aimed at analyzing the relationship between industrial enterprises from the State of São Paulo and its stakeholders, based on the stakeholders theory. The research, both descriptive and quantitative, considers that three attributes - power, legitimacy and urgency - should define the relationship or the influence of each stakeholder and the organization. The research was conducted through an electronic survey, using a questionnaire sent to members of the Center of Industries of São Paulo State. The sample was intentional and non-probabilistic, summing up 149 valid responses. Despite methodological limitations, the results indicate that stakeholders are regarded by respondents in different ways, which would make it possible to have both different treatment and strategic prioritization of stakeholders by organizations, with clients and consumers prevailing over others. Through factor analysis, we have grouped the 11 classes of stakeholders analyzed in 3 categories - direct relationship with business, indirect relationship with business, and business property -, diverging from classifications proposed by previous studies.
