In this article, the prospects and challenges for banks in the future are presented. The theoretical framework on the subject allowed constructing a questionnaire to identify the degree of importance assigned to 20 different issues. In the survey, 93 employees of the management and operational levels of the major Brazilian banks and 9 university professors who are experts in financial market were encompassed. The data were statistically analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 13.0. According to the main findings of the sample, there was no statistical difference between the employees of the surveyed banks, but it did not occur between bank employees and professors. Some variables have gained greater importance: the fight against fraud, business intelligence, banking and quick service. Six factors were identified from factor analysis: sustainability and the role of Brazil; mobility and security; regulation and new technologies; globalization, integration and privacy; smart services and banking. In the discriminant analysis, 79.3% and 66.7% of Bradesco and Banco do Brazil employees, respectively, were correctly classified, as well as 78.8% of the managers.Downloads
