Abstract

Describe the health profile of the groups studied, verify the frequency of alleles and genotypes of the Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene and compare the polymorphisms of the ApoE gene with body composition, lower limb power (MMIIs) and total genotype score (TGS), the sample consisted of 81 individuals. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was obtained from samples of the smear of the oral mucosa. Body composition was assessed using the OMRON bioimpedance scale and the power of the lower limbs was measured by the Hydrofit contact mat, using the Squat jump (SJ) and Counter movement jump (CMJ) tests. Group 1 (ɛ2) consisted of 65% affected by stroke, the height of the CMJ tests 6.08 ± 3.8 and SJ 4.77 ± 3.4. Group 2 (ɛ3) comprised 17.1% of individuals affected by stroke, the height of the CMJ 10.3 ± 5.4 and SJ 8.3 ± 5.2. The ɛ4 group presented individuals with stroke 28.6%. Height at CMJ 11.7 ± 7.4 and SJ 9.8 ± 7.3. The Ɛ2 / Ɛ4 group presented height in the CMJ 5.71 ± 4.9 and SJ 4.36 ± 3.2. The ɛ3 and ɛ4 alleles showed a significant difference in relation to the ɛ2 group in the CMJ and SJ tests. The allele averages were: ɛ3 (69.8%); ɛ2 (16.6%) and ɛ4 (13.6%). The Ɛ3 / Ɛ3 genotype was the most prevalent (50.6%). The allele frequency that prevailed in the sample of this study was of the ɛ3 allele and 65% of the carriers of the ɛ2 allele are affected by stroke. The carriers of the ɛ3 and ɛ4 allele had a significant difference in muscle strength compared to the ɛ2 group. TGS presented with 50, in 58% of the sample and in patients with ɛ3.
