As they exercise both administrative and operational functions using tactical equipment, Municipal Guards (MGs) are subjected to the development of postural changes and joint pain, which can be aggravated by the lack of physical activity. This cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between postural changes, perception of joint pain and the physical activity level, according to the sector in which MGs perform their duties. The MGs were submitted to a postural assessment using the SAPO Software, and a self-administered questionnaire: a) sociodemographic and professional characterization; b) V.A.S scale - pain; and c) short version of the IPAQ questionnaire - physical activity level. Most MGs were considered to be very active (53.3%), with postural changes of greater frequency and joint pain reported in the scapular and pelvic girdles, which may be related to the influence of the load exerted by the equipment and postures adopted during work.
