Abstract

This article is part of a chapter of the doctoral thesis "We and they: journalism and adult homeless women's of city of Rio de Janeiro", developed in the post graduation Program of Escola de Comunicações e Artes (ECA), in the Universidade de São Paulo. Homeless population is seen as a public health problem in Brazil. Thinking about that, the text aims to understand what the lawyers and the psychologists think about the news of this minority group. It was intended also to show what could be improved in the coverage of these news through the eyes of the professionals. As methodological procedures, there were made semi-open interviews with psychologists and awyers that work directly with homelessness of the city of Rio de Janeiro. In addition, news of the newspapers Extra and O Globo were used to analyze the journalistic point of view. The results show some ideas of how journalists could do a better work to strengthen the citizenship of this minority population
