Resumen

This article presents the extension project Cinema, Subjectivity and Society: The Seventh Art in the Production of Knowledge of the Federal University of São Paulo – campus Santos, which uses film production for reflection, questioning, production and exploration of issues related to constitution of subjective configurations in contemporary times. The project works in partnership with teaching and research activities with existing devices in the city. It aims to expand the aesthetic experimentation spaces and articulate epistemic production with questions of ethics, political and existential, in order to provide an itinerant space of interference in daily academic life and out of it. Therefore, it involves different methodologies: participatory construction of teaching strategies, research and extension, of qualitative nature; filmography and bibliographic research; production of narratives, written and audio-visual material. It also uses various techniques: meetings, screening of films, participant observations, discussions, focus groups and recorded interviews. The first results evidence concern for social issues such as public education, human rights and social movements, in a trans-disciplinary aspect and partnerships with community initiatives. Some preliminary findings point to the possibility of new epistemic production methods in conjunction with the visual language, little explored in the academic context.
