The Art with Recyclables Waste: Income Generating And Social Inclusion

The solid waste is one of the problems directly inserted into to society routine and has been a risk to environment and human health. The National Policy on Solid Waste determined the realization of management plans of these wastes and formalized the recycling activity. However, it is still necessary the stimulation of integrated management systems, such as, reuse. In this context, art workshops were developed teaching the manufacture of artisanal handicraft from recyclables waste. Until now, two workshops were offered in the campus of USP Leste. In each workshop were offered twelve classes with four hours duration. The dynamics of the classes involved an initial discussion of environmental themes followed by the manufacture of handicraft. The participants attended the classes assiduously and demonstrated dedication and enthusiasm with the manufactured pieces. During the workshops it was noticed a growing interest and awareness of participants about waste reuse, as well as, a noticeable integration among participants. It was establish that the project contributed to the improvement on self-esteem and other psychological and emotional problems reported by participants. It was concluded that the project contributed to the sustainability, environment and social integration of east zone of São Paulo.Downloads
