Abstract

The objective of this work is to examine the localization factors of the exporting assembly industry in the State of Mexico. The central argument is that the localization patterns in our State are not related with the proximity to the United States. Even though this is a fundamental factor, the characteristics of the assembly enterprises establishing in the State, which are complemented with the local employment market  problematic, i.e. a sector with poor technologies and qualifications. The article focuses on the assembly plants strategies, but highlights the need of advance in the regional industrialization policies design that complement not only the use of existent resources in the State, but also the improvement of the population’s standard of life.
