Abstract

This paper discusses the problems created by the economic policy followed after the Brazilian constitutional change in 1988,focusing the necessity of returning of a nationalism that emphasizes the development of Brazil for Brazilians, rather than to the large multinationals and richer countries. Some policy changes are proposed that will allow Brazil to have a less dependent economy, while maintaining good relations with other countries, where nationalism does not require isolation or xenophobia.
