In this article, we formulate a pragmatically oriented approach for teaching how to write in standard language, which involves collecting, developing and testing exercises concerning the mastering of orthographic norms, in the context of applied linguistics, with emphasis in the productive teaching of cues for the learning of critical issues of written language. The hypothesis under analysis is that users of language, guided by psychological realism, conceive writing as broad phonetic transcription of speech, thus recovering grapheme features of archaic Portuguese. In this context, they need explicit orientation as well as visual and systematic motor practicing of writing, in order to overcome challenge resulting from reanalysis, in cases with no parallelism between speech and writing. The proposal puts together new strategies for using narratives, poems and crosswords, writing of oral sentences, reading and analysis of histories.Downloads
