Thinking about human values in the 21st century we analysed three works of Miguel Torga: the tale "Vicente" from Bichos; O Sexto Dia da Criação do Mundo, vol.V and Diário, vol. XII.Miguel Torga, a poet and writer whose existence was determined by anguish, despair and the obsession of death, never lost his hope in man's will to face God or destiny. His homeland, S. Martinho de Anta, Agarez in fiction, is a source of energy against adversities. Tolerance, solidarity and respect among human beings are the most important values to live in society and without them freedom cannot exist.Downloads
