Abstract

The following study intends to put into practice a discursive analysis of Samba from a multidisciplinary perspective. For this we use, among others, the studies of cultural and musical semiotics by professor Juan Miguel González Martínez; of the study of metalanguage in samba by André Nemi Conforte and the performative proposal in Austin. These works, in addition to serving as theoretical support, help us understand the mechanism by which samba is guided to build what Lubomír Doležel calls possible worlds, which is nothing but symbols and signs that become part of a reality and, therefore, of a collective memory. In this way, Samba - an intelligent text -, its composers and listeners build a semiotic framework capable of reproducing and providing feedback over the years, resulting in a social identity. Finally, the power of music is deduced, especially in the genre in question, which works not only as a channel of communication, but also plays an important role: to create a historical awareness.
