Rasgar el presente: memoria y fabulación en relato de um certo oriente

Abstract

This work explores the ways used in Relato de um certo Oriente to account for the visible, which is regarded here as a synonym for the real. We hold that resorting to memories, where remembering and inventing merge together, constitutes the only means to support the visible. Thus, we focus not only on the different narrators of the novel but also on the value and signification that the action of recalling comprises for each one of them.
