The dissipative mechanical systems are second order vector fields on the tangent bundle of the configuration space, a compact Riemannian manifold ; they are obtained by the addition of a dissipative field of forces to a conservative one. The main results deal with generic properties and structural stability of these mechanical systems.Downloads
