Abstract

The article discusses the challenges of the heritage of football, understood as a dynamic phenomenon which cuts across different areas of social life. The Football Museum, opened in September2008 and located in the Pacaembu Stadium, Sao Paulo, is the theme of this reflection. The visitor's behavior and the relations established between the visitors and the exhibit are the key to understand how the Museum has became, in a short time, into a space where different actors engage a process of identification from the symbolic elements of football. This process is fundamental to preserve and to choose what contents ofthe football will be musealize
