Abstract

The principal objeticve of this article is to consider History as a concept and as a practice, as well as to examine it as a socially-shared belief. Throughout the long history of this belief, amongst times of certainty and times of doubt, two moments will be elaborated in this article: firstly, the mid-twentieth century, when, immediately after the end of the Second World War, evidence for History will be quickly reasserted; and, secondly, present day, seen as the time in which evidence fades, and belief is divided. Therefore, it will deal with reflecting on the resistance of one of the central concepts of the modern world, and with some of its key transformations.
