Instructions to reviewers
The purpose of ARA Journal is to stimulate critical reflection through articles, reviews, interviews, textual essays and visual essays related to the fields of Architecture and Urbanism, Museology, Arts, Design, History and Education. To ensure the integrity and excellence of the publication, the journal adopts a double-blind review policy, in which at least two reviewers of recognized academic merit, endorsed after consultation with the Editorial Board, evaluate the contributions without identifying the authors.
Guiding principles of conduct for reviewers
The review must be completed within the agreed deadline, through the OJS system, in a clear and constructive manner, avoiding offensive or disrespectful comments.
Reviewers must refuse to be nominated for review if they find a conflict of interest related to the research or the funding agencies for the submission.
Submitted contributions must be treated as confidential documents. No information may be disclosed to third parties under any circumstances.
The use of content or ideas obtained through reading the submitted materials for any purpose is not permitted.
Reviewers must inform the editors, in their review, of content not mentioned by the authors and also report any significant similarity or overlap between the reviewed submission and other published articles of which they are aware. It is worth remembering that ARA Journal uses iThenticate, a service provided by CrossRef, to detect plagiarism.
Submissions must be rejected if the following are identified:
- irremediable flaws or flaws that cannot be overcome within the deadline for publication.
- impertinence of the article to the topic of the so-called
- lack of clarity in the formulation of objectives
- inconsistency of the theoretical basis and methodological procedures employed
- lack of quality of the analyses
- inconsistency in the articulation between theory, methodology and analysis in relation to the objectives of the article
Reviewers must observe the relevance and originality of the topic and approach; the quality of the writing, the currentness of the bibliographic reference and compliance with the formal and structural expectations pertinent to the submission.
Guiding principles of conduct for authors
Contributions must be entirely original. The use of texts or images from third parties must be duly credited. Plagiarism constitutes unethical and unacceptable editorial behavior.
Authors undertake not to submit essentially similar contributions to more than one journal. It is worth remembering, once again, that ARA Journal uses iThenticate, a service provided by CrossRef, to detect plagiarism.
The authorship of the submission must reflect the effective participation of all those responsible for the conception, design and preparation of the work. The main author assumes the responsibility of including the names of all co-authors, obtaining their approval of the final version of the submission. The inclusion of an author after acceptance will not be permitted.
Authors must cite the reference bibliographic sources. Information obtained in conversations or correspondence must be used with written permission.
In the event of the discovery of significant errors, the authors undertake to inform and cooperate with the editors in order to correct the published work.
Authors undertake to inform the sources of funding for the research.
