Abstract

This arcticle reflects on the theoretical-curatorial project L’informe: mode d’emploi, by Rosalind Krauss and Yve-Alain Bois, which resulted in the exhibition of the same name at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris in 1996. To this end, it discusses the philosophical meaning present in the author’s reabilitation of the concept of “formless” from Georges Bataille and suggests that such a strategy has an eminently contemporary meaning, parituclarly due to its proximity to Jean-François Lyotard’s idea of “rewriting modernity” and Jean-Luc Nancy’s idea of “self-reflection of art”.
