The history of food, drinks and drugs constitutes a thematic and conceptual field of distinct but overlapping elements. Studies on food, alcohol and other drugs have been part of attempts to analyze the core of everyday life, which is also the raw material of the economy, that is, the practices we may call ingestions. Ingesting is assimilating into the body external products that are embodied in the flesh itself, thus constituting its "reproductive food", but also psychophysiological regulators that since the most archaic times have been found with the fermentation of organic matter and the psychoactive richness of flora. This is why we call this journal, now in its first issue, of Ingesta, expecting these "ingestions" could also be digestive and nutritious. Here we have a wide menu of topics that deal with many aspects, almost always anchored in very rich monographic researches that investigate peculiar manifestations of our relationship with what we eat or drink, how it is done, what meanings and with what repercussions.
