O propósito desta pesquisa é estudar os banquetes como espaços e instrumentos de poder que engendravam a teia política durante a Primeira República. Busca-se analisar aspectos das práticas alimentares, colocando em perspectiva histórica as ações comportamentais de um segmento da sociedade – elites econômica, política e cultural –, que tornam visíveis a alimentação como uma linguagem de pertencimento social e de fortalecimento da imagem de unidade e modernidade do Estado.
