Abstract

This article deals with the modeling of the compositional system of Ponteio Nº 11, by Camargo Guarnieri, and aims at identifying, based on the analysis of certain musical parameters of this piece, a set of prescriptive rules hypothetically used in its construction. These requirements should then enable the composition of original pieces. Thus, the modeling of compositional systems is a work of reverse engineering, in which one tries to follow the reverse path of composition, i.e., starting from a piece, we arrive at a set of definitions that may have been a starting point for its construction. Thus, the system modeled after Guarnieri’s Ponteio Nº 11 was used in the composition Pedro Miguel’s Ponteio Nº 1, in order to verify the ability of the modeled compositional system to capture certain aesthetic peculiarities and precepts o parametric connection as well as micro and macro-structural aspects of the analyzed work.
