This paper proposes a discussion about the role of Conservation - as a sistematic discipline - related to investigation, rescue and management of archaeological and ethnographic colections. Taking the cultural object from the point of view of its materiality, we argue that the absence of proper retrieval and management procedures considerably reduce its potential as a source of investigation about cultural processes.Downloads
