Anthracology contributes with important information about use of plant resources by sambaqui moundbuilders. Analysis of a charred post associated to a funerary feature from site Jabuticabeira-II identified a Lauraceae (Ocotea sp.) and allowed to hypothesize about selective plant gathering. This selection might be driven by functional aspects of the wood characters and/or by symbolic aspects related to the cosmological domain of this group.Downloads
