Abstract

In the vast collections of the current Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology (MAE) at the University of São Paulo (USP), there are many archaeological objects from the East (Egypt, Mesopotamia), Greece and Roman sites. One of the main problems with most of these materials is the lack of contextual data, so in many cases the study and analysis of the individual object is the only tool available to clarify its origin and dating. This collection includes a marble stele with an inscription of the Türstein, doorstone type, of Phrygian origin and dating from the 3rd century AD.
