Abstract

Starting with the platonic legate, the author studied the interrelation between the political-pedagogical ideas of J.-J. Rousseau taking as a basis the Discurso sobre a desigualdade entre os homens, O Contrato Social, and Emilio. Then he emphasizes the specificity in the modern thought of that philosophical system which chooses the man as the central topic of the contemplation and the individual conscience while moral feeling, as the basis for the activity of civic virtues and for political legitimacy.
