The present experiment was carried out aiming at studying the resulting semen characteristics by experimental production of testicular degeneration in two Swedish Landrace boars. A mixture of 50%:50% cantharide iodine was applied to the scrotal skin to cause inflammation. Semen collections were made every second day after application of the ointment and the semen picture studied until it returned to the preexperimental state. The semen picture showed an irregular concentration and also volume. The % of protoplasmic droplets was high after the second application in the first boar (18% ) — and on the first application in the second boar (21%). The % of pathological heads was highest after second ointment application in the first boar (22.5%) and on first application in the second boar (21%). A few long sperms were found during the first phase of the experiment (covering twice the objective field on the slide) for the first boar. Almost as 4 times as long as the normal sperm. Heads normal but middle pieces and tails were extremely long.
