Polivinylborate, a compound mixture of polivinyl alcohol with boric acid, reacts with iodine in the same way as the amilo-solution, giving raise to blue color. The author carried out this reaction in the detection of boric ion in milk, butter and sausage. The simplicity of the test and its sensibility provided an easy way for the detection of the boric acid used as preservative in the above mentioned products.Downloads
