Leptospirosis as cause of bovine abortion was seen for
the first time in São Paulo (Brazil). The use of a polivalent
antigen for rapid aglutination test, has suggested the presence
of the disease, thus 18 out of 150 serum samples gave
positive titres. Amongst 18 sera 16 reacted positively against
L. pomona antigen. L. pomona could be isolated from an
aborted fetus and it was possible to transmit the infection
to calves and guinea-pigs.
