Foot and mouth disease and its etiologic agent. (some aspects and bibliographical references)

Abstract

As a introduction the A. makes some considerations about the complex problem of F. & M. disease. Then considers the principal centers of research of the matter in America, especially the recently founded Pan-American Center of F. & M. disease, under the auspices of the Pan-American Sanitary Bureau and World Health Organization and with the cooperation of the Brazilian Government (Ministry of Agriculture). After preliminary studies a group of specialists appointed by the North American institutions selected Rio de Janeiro as the lrst Center for study and application of that Zoonosis. With the purpose to make access to the literature on the subject, the A. presents an analytical review of articles published in periodicals received by the Library of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of São Paulo (Brazil). The subjects and authors are alphabetically grouped and, as much as possible, follow the same arrangement used in other references works published by the A.
