About ascorbic acid levels in whole blood of thoroughbred race horses

Ascorbic acid average levels in whole blood of thoroughbred race horses,have been carried out. Sixty nine males and 48 females (which were working on races) between 2-8 years old, were studied. The ascorbic acid averages values for both sexes were M = 0.638 ± 0.013 mg%, being M = 0.638 ± 0,017 for males and M = 0.625 ± 0.019 mg% for females. The difference between the averages (0.013 mg%) for males and female was without significance.
