The preservation of cattle serum and plasma has been atudied for later determination of total protein, albumin, globulins and proteinic quocient, through modified of Gornall, Bardawill and David.
A preservation had been attempted with an interval between the processing phases by delaying the reading of the results, refrigeration and freezing the samples, and also adding antibiotics and antisseptics.
The results obtained were:
1. The interval in the determination must be prior to adding the Biuret Reactive.
2. The reading of the results must be immediat.
3. Preferably the determination shloud be maid immediately after the obtaining of the samples.
4. The samples that have not been dosed immediately, must be refrigerated and if the preserving will be necessary for a longer period, it is advisable to use and antibiotic.
5. A preservation for 48 hours does not alter the total protein contents.
