The arterial blood supply of the sinus node has been studied in 40 Pekingese dogs (22 males and 18 females). The sinus node was nourished by the ramus distalis atrii dextri in 26 (65.0% ± 7.5) of the examined hearts; by the ramus intermedius atriidextri in 8 (20.0% ± 6.3) of the examined organs; by the ramus distalis atrii dextri and ramus proximalis atrii sinistri in 3 (7.5% ± 3.9) of the examined specimens; by the ramus proximalis sinistri in 2 (5.0% ± 3.4) of the examined pieces; by the ramus intermedius atrii dextri and ramus proximalis atrii sinistri in 1 (2.5% ± 2.5) of the examined animals. Arterial anastomoses were observed in 12 out from 40 hearts examined, between collaterals from rami distalis atrii dextri and proximalis atrii sinistri, 9 cases; between collaterals from rami intermedius atrii dextri and proximalis atrii sinistri, 2 cases; between collaterals from rami proximalis atrii dextri e distalis atrii dextri, 1 case; between collaterals from ramus proximalis atrii sinistri, 1 case. There was no sexual influence in the pattern of the blood supply to the sinus node.Downloads
