Broiler chicks from a commercial flocks of immunized matrix were used to study the lentogcnic vaccine prepared with both B1 and La Sota strains of the Newcastle virus disease. B1 and La Sota strains were equally efficient (P<0,01) in protecting animals against the effects produced by 107.52/0,1 ml EID50 of a velogenic viscerotropic sample given by eye drop instillation. Further, the haemagglutination inhibition antibody titre (HI) observed after vaccination, increased until the 21st day, being most effective for La Sota strain (P<0,05).
