Sixteen lactating cows, originated from two farms at São Paulo state, received two selenium pellets each. Sixty days after the pellets were given, the seric selenium concentrations in the treated cows were the same (P <0.05), being higher than that of untreated cows (P <0.001). It was concluded that the pellets were sufficient to maintain the selenium seric levels between 0.041 and 0.049 ppm at least two months after administration.
