A seroepidemiological survey of Brucella canis infection was conducted on 352 canine sera from Campinas, SP, Brazil, using a modified rapid slide agglutination test with 2-marcaptoethanol solution. Dogs were randomly selected for bleeding and sex and age were recorded. The prevalence rate observed for Brucella canis infection was 5,4%, while the 35% confidence interval was situated between 3,0% and 7,3%. Considering just the reagent dogs (having antibodies against Brucella canis), there was no difference between the male/female ratios. The highest frequency of seropositive animals was observed in dogs with age ranging from 18 to 54 months (from 1.5 to 4.5 years old).Downloads
