Abstract

The animal immune system may be regarded as composed of lymphocytes, macrophages, a series of related cells and their soluble products found in different tissues and organs. In the Ehrlich tumour, the phenomenon of antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity was shown to be efficient. The criteria employed to evaluate the activity of mediators was the measurement of cell DNA synthesis by the amount of 3H-thymidine incorporated into acid insoluble material after two hours pulse. The suppression by bacterial lipopolysaccharides into macrophages was studied in two aspects, the reaction with soluble products and cell-to-cell contact. The factors involved in Ehrlich tumours are complex. Each factor may act by itself or in combination, definitively much more studies are needed in order to understand the phenomenon of cellular immunity.
