The purpose of this article is to analyze the erotic poetry of Lucas José d’Alvarenga. For the execution of this analysis, a monographic research was done using the indirect research technique, specifically the bibliographical one, which consisted of a brief review of the bibliography already published concerning the work of Lucas José d’Alvarenga – the book Poezias (1830) –, object of this research. The selection and analysis of the poems were guided by the concept of eroticism, proposed by Octavio Paz. Thirteen erotic poems were identified in the book, among improvisations, quatrains, sonnets and vilancetes. Eroticism was represented in these poems through antitheses and metaphors, being erotic features most recurrent the imagination, the perception of sex as recreation and privacy vs. voyeurism.Downloads
