Abstract

Perifobia is a collection of short stories by São Paulo based writer Lilia Guerra, republished in 2025. This review aims to show how she places the periphery at the center of her writing and presents stories that challenge racial stereotypes and reveal fascinating lives, bringing to the fore characters who reinvent themselves in the face of violence and poverty, aligning her with the political and ethical project of Carolina Maria de Jesus in Quarto de despejo (2020).
