Homenagem a Paim

Abstract

With the death of the artist and professor Antônio Paim Vieira (1895-1988) we lost a friend and a teacher. here we pay our respects to him remembering some aspects of his work which enriched Brazilian art since the first decade of this century as well as his efforts toinclude and value the teaching of drawing in the schools for professional training during the twenties. Regarding his extensive carreer as an artist and decorator, we foreground his activity as illustrator, his versatility in artisan techniques, and his refined art in miniature painting. His cultural education along with his extraordinary sensibility led him also to produce in the art of heraldry.
