Abstract

This article deals with the first rections to A cultura brasileira in 1943. The recognition of Roger Bastide, Emilio Willems and Antonio Candido, on the one hand, and the universal and differentiated interpretation which the essay offers, in a moment in wich emphasis falls back upon the ethnic components of brazilian origins on the other. The preventive measure against the author taken by the Catholic Church.
