This study to observe the strategies adopted by the caiçara minority of fishermen/former landowners in a way to survive in a region affected by a tourist and urban boom, since 1960. This has transformed them into inhabitants of slum or house keepers in the tourist summer houses. Paulistas caiçaras (Brazil) are distinguished for a traditional culture, with linguistic, musical and religious archaisms. This culture is the focus of resistance against the harding changes that has disjointed their spaces and times. Since 1970, Pentecostalism has been also an element of obstructing caiçara musical practice.Downloads
