Resumen

The general goal of this paper is to analyze and to discuss the ways in which the culture – and the work of those who perform in this industry – has been appropriated, when it comes to the valorization of the capital in the current stage of the capitalist production method. As a specific target of research, we developed a study alongside professional musicians, aiming to understand the reality in which they live and work. Through this study, we sought subsides for the understanding of the reality of the musician’s work – usually informal and precarious – compared to the figures presented by the official statistics that indicate the “promising data” of this industry for the Brazilian economy.
