Abstract

Based upon studies alredy carried out on the work of Lorenzo Fernandez, the present article lays stress upon the main fact of his course of music, including Lorenzo Fernandez several performances as composer,conductor, teacher and writer. An analysis is made on his importance to the Brazilian music nationalism and the os his ideas on the development of the "orpheonic singing" - the movement towards musical education in which he participated together with Villa-Lobos. In the last part, the importance of his vocal music is stressed, and the present status of the spreading of this work is commented.
