Abstract

Thi article accompanies the educator in his efforts towards educational reforms, paralleling the role of revealer of Sociology and Sociology of Education in Brazil. It develops the interpretation/revision of the works written by him -- from the 1920's to the 1960's -- highlighting the position of follower of Durkheim, added to postures coming from the teachings of Edgar Morin. It recognizes in the studies in education left by Fernando de Azevedo the predominance of the sociological perspective and, in the collection left by him, a transmitter of knowledge and therefore a motivation for new work.
