Abstract

In this article, we intend to analyse the edification of a memory about the conceptions of a popular, o italiano and o brasileiro in Francisco Mignone´s work inside a specific cultural and historical context: the conflicts of the modernist tendencies in Music, in opposition of the post-romantism (tradition) and the european vanguards of the decades 20 and 30. Considering Mário de Andrade´s articles and Francisco Mignone´s report, we will discuss the sacralization of a memory erected in the 20 and 30´s, as the representation of a historical verity, by the historiographer Bruno Kiefer, in 1983.
