By means of an immunoenzymatic assay (ELISA) IgM class anti-L. braziliensis antibodies are reported in a series of sera from clinical.cases of Cutaneous Leish. maniasis and normal individuals, from Ribeira do lguape Valley, São paulo State, Brazil. The antibody specificity was demonstrated by absorbing the sera with heat-aggregated gamma globulin. Anti-L. braziliensis IgM antibodies were present in treated and untreated Cutaneous Leishmaniasis sera and in 43.21% of normal sera from the same geographical sera. IgG antibodies were present in 86.0% of clinical cases of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis.
