The contribution of Teodoro Sampaio to the report about the tenements of Santa Ifigênia: sanitation and urban planning in the trajectory of an engineer

Engineer Theodoro Sampaio headed the team that produced the Report for the Commission of examination and inspection of working men tenement houses in the Districto de Sta. Ephigenia – 1893. The document highlights the conditions of disease proliferation in the humble housings in the neighborhood, after the yellow fever epidemic. The acting of the commission is a mark of the public actions in the sanitation and hygienism fields in the capital of São Paulo. We will discuss how the actions of Theodoro Sampaio were noticed within the commission and the importance of the engineer for the formulation of public strategies of sanitation and hygienism practices.Downloads
