Abstract

The object of this paper is the meaning of comfort to the modern brazilian architects. The goal is to understand what was comfort to these architects, especially related to the habitation. The research was made through the texts written by the modern architects, found in magazines of architecture, urbanism and engineering, in a period between 1925 and 1960. Analyzing these texts, we could find two meanings to comfort: environmental comfort and convenience. We could find that the idea of comfort is related to several concepts, like efficiency, technique, aesthetics, privacity, and others.
